Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2/28/26
Totallynotquizlet ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to collecting as little data as humanly possible. Honestly, we'd rather spend our time fixing bugs than tracking people. Still, we do use a few tools to keep the site running smoothly, so this policy explains what's collected, why, and what your options are.
1. What We Collect
We don't create accounts, we don't store your name, and we don't want your email. The only data we collect comes from:
Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
We use GA4 to understand how people use the site—things like which pages are popular or whether anyone actually clicks the "Next" button.
GA4 collects:
- Basic device info (browser, device type, etc.)
- General location (city-level, not your home address)
- Pages visited and actions taken
- Technical data like timestamps and referrers
GA4 does not give us your name, email, or anything personally identifiable. We don't send Google any such data either.
Google may process this data according to their own policies. You can read how Google uses information here: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
2. Cookies
We don't set any cookies ourselves.
Google Analytics may set cookies to help us understand site usage. That's it. No creepy tracking, no cross-site stalking, no "we saw you looking at flashcards at 2 AM" emails.
3. Local data stored on your device
We store a tiny bit of stuff on your device so the app behaves nicely — think of it as the site remembering where you left off. We can't see this data, and it doesn't go anywhere besides your device.
- Your progress: How you're doing on each card (scores and review timings) so rounds can resume where you left off.
- Session & stats: A short history of recent sessions and simple stats that power the "improvement" views.
- Deck info: Saved deck titles, tags, and a few remembered decks shown on your dashboard.
- Stars & checks: Which cards you starred or marked as learned — kept per deck so your study state sticks around.
- Images: Any images you add are kept in your browser so they load faster and work offline. They stay on your device and won't transfer to someone else when you share a deck.
Everything stays on your device. You can clear it by:
- Clearing this site's storage in your browser (site data / storage).
- Using in-app controls like "Clear all stars & checks" or deleting images while editing a set.
- Resetting or uninstalling your browser profile (that will wipe all local site data).
4. Bug Reports & Feature Requests (Google Forms)
When you submit a bug report or feature request, we receive the text you type into the form, and—if you choose to include it—your email address.
We only use an email address to reply to you about your specific bug, question, or idea. We don't sell it, we don't add it to a mailing list, and we don't share it with anyone else.
Because the form is powered by Google Forms, Google may collect some technical data (like IP address or device info) as part of their service. Their privacy policy applies to those submissions.
We only see what you type into the form (plus your email if you give it to us)—nothing sneaky.
5. Google Fonts
We use Google Fonts to make the site look less like it was built in 1998. When your browser loads a font, Google may receive basic technical information about your device. This is standard for most modern websites.
6. How We Use the Data
We use the limited data we collect to:
- Understand how people use the site
- Improve features
- Fix bugs
- Make Totallynotquizlet less terrible over time
We do not:
- Sell your data
- Share your data
- Use your data for advertising
- Track you across the internet
We're too busy building flashcards.
7. International Visitors
We don't block any regions, so visitors from anywhere may use the site. Depending on where you live, you may have privacy rights under laws like GDPR or CCPA.
If you want to:
- Request deletion of Analytics data
- Opt out of tracking
- Ask what data Google Analytics has
You can use Google's tools here: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout/
8. Children's Privacy
Totallynotquizlet is used by students of all ages, but it is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children, and since we barely collect data from anyone, there isn't much to worry about.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally. Continuing to use Totallynotquizlet means you accept these changes. If we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. Nothing dramatic—just keeping things accurate.
